Description
The structure team's proposal for a hyper-building: a stack of programme volumes carried by an exoskeleton and by cores whose form was found rather than drawn. The core geometry comes from a topology optimisation run over the whole envelope — material taken away wherever it does no structural work, down to eight per cent — after the femur, whose trabeculae follow the same principle. Benchmarked against five built towers on two measures: column-free floor area and structural efficiency.

La propuesta del equipo de estructura para un hiperedificio: una pila de volúmenes de programa sostenida por un exoesqueleto y por núcleos cuya forma fue encontrada, no dibujada. La geometría de los núcleos sale de una optimización topológica corrida sobre la envolvente entera — se retira material de donde no trabaja, hasta quedar en el ocho por ciento — siguiendo al fémur, cuyas trabéculas obedecen al mismo principio. Comparado contra cinco torres construidas en dos medidas: superficie libre de columnas y eficiencia estructural.
